Eric first fell in love with pottery, like many of us, as a high school student. Over 30 years later he still gets just as excited as he was that first day watching his instructor throw a cylinder on the potters wheel. Over the years he has been inspired by many potters. Warren Mckenzie, Guy Wolff, and Phil Rogers are three of the potters that he absolutely loves. As an instructor he likes to try and get his students to seek inspiration past Instagram and YouTube. The internet has been around since the nineties, but some of the earliest archaeological discoveries were shards of pottery.
Currently, when not at Portside Pottery, He is a vendor at the Vancouver Washington Farmers Market.
At Portside Pottery his main job is to manage the studio and create a pleasant space for the members and students to work on progressing as potters and artists. He’s also an instructor!
Naiomi is the Studio Tech and one of the instructors at Portside Pottery. The pottery seed was planted early on for Naiomi. She's always considered herself blessed to have access to pottery through her high school and the amazing teachers that were always there to guide her on her journey as a potter. Teaching others has really allowed her a deeper connection to clay. This allows her to create while at the same time inspiring others. The connection she feels with other potters gives her a great sense of community. "No matter the age or experience level, doing pottery always brings people together and gets people excited!"
